Questions

What is a favicon?

The small icon shown in the browser tab, bookmarks and history. Phones also use it when someone saves your site to their home screen.

What files do I get?

favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 pixel sizes, 16 and 32 pixel PNGs, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 pixel Android icons, and a site.webmanifest.

Where do I put the files?

Upload them to the root folder of your website, then paste the HTML snippet into the head of every page. Most site builders also have a favicon setting where you can upload the 512 pixel PNG.

What size should a favicon be?

Browsers mainly use 16 and 32 pixels, Apple uses 180 and Android uses 192 and 512. This generator creates all of them.

Is it free to use the icons as my favicon?
